There is no shortage of ego in this house.

I put on her new little outfit today (a birthday present from Aunt Jill and Uncle John) She looked down at herself and matter-of-factly said "I'm beautiful" Hilarious!

Blue is Two!

July 18th, 2007 at 1;11 pm my little Blue turned two years old (sniff sniff). We had a special grandparent celebration on her actual birthday and then a family and friend party in the park on Sunday. Aunt Joanne provided this snappy little number for Blue to wear.
Thank you so much to everyone that came to the parties or sent along gifts. Each one of you is so important and I really appreciate the thought.

This is the cake. It's a bug cake that D and I made with love. My sister brought up cupcakes, so it was all I could think about. Don't judge, I'm pregnant. Anyway, it was covered in worms and spiders and butterflies for kiddy enjoyment.

Blue indulged in 5 cupcakes as the official taste tester for the day. Happy Birthday Blue!

My little flower girl

Our friends, Gen and Tom, got married yesterday. That's me, M, holding Blue up front. Blue got the honor of being the flower girl in the wedding. For the first time in her life, Blue became shy. Crap. What does a mother do? Bribe the child with jelly beams! That's right, I slipped a pack of jelly beans into the ring bearers pocket to give to Blue along the way. I know my kid and if she won't follow a man, she'll certainly follow food. =) In the long run, she ended up running down the isle yelling (happily) "Mommy Mommy" At the alter she turned her bucket over and dumped out all the flowers. For a 1 year old not bad.
After the ceremony, Blue sat for a well deserved meal. And then she ate the ring bearers meal as well. She gave him the eyes and stole the chicken strips right out from under his nose!

Dancing and more dancing

and more dancing..... (note: that is NOT the ring bearer. Scandal) Blue grabbed any man in height range and shook her groove thang until she dropped.

Here are the gorgeous bride and groom. They are obviously so in love. What a beautiful, heartfelt day. I was lucky to be a part of it. Congratulations guys!

No Mommy! I love you!

Ah nap time and bedtime. This is what Blue has learned to plead while sobbing. It is like a knife in your heart when you are sure that you are psychologically damaging your child. Then you finally break and get your poor baby and that little stinker beams as if it were Christmas. No trauma. No permanent damage. Oh no, just a sucker parent! =)

Happy Canada Day!

Being that Blue is half Canadian, D and I feel that it's important to celebrate Canada's Independance Day. She sported her Canada shirt all day and even went to a Canadian picnic yesterday. The picnic was complete with moose and Mounties. Fun for all!
And always one to partake in the dessert portion of the evening. Blue felt it her duty to step up and shovel a bunch in. =)

I have no idea why....

Blue for the last few days has been obsessed with her Uncle Marc. Mind you my sister's husband lives all the way in Canada and has been around Blue all of 5 times in her life. It is so funny because I don't know where it's coming from. She have entire conversations about going to the park or watching tv with Mama, Dada, Nana, Papa, Fugi (her little friend) and then she always caps it "and Marc" She points him out in pictures and so on. Very interesting. =)

Miss runway herself.
Blue and her cousin Zoe.

A fish called Blue

I just got these pictures now. Here are Nana and Blue at the Monterey Bay aquarium. There is a special kids area where they can touch sea creatures.
Never one to deny a slide.

The weirdest animal I've ever seen. It was the size of a giant truck tire.

Always one to stop and smell the flowers.

You'll notice that Blue could care less about the ashtray near her. She sniffs every flower that comes in her path. Then says an exaggerated "mmmmmm...".

It waved to me!

My appointment went very well yesterday. Everything that should be there is. It's so interesting to me how fast they grow. The best part was that the baby waved its little arm stump at me. =)

Gramma's gift

It feels like this is a gift sent from my Gramma. I found out after she passed away that I was pregnant, and the baby is due 5 days past her birthday. So many signs. It makes me happy.

Blue has a special announcement!

Blue's brother or sister is due Christmas Day! I am 9 weeks along now and the baby's little heart was pumping away during yesterday's sonogram. It's a very exciting time! =)

"I tuck!"

Blue says this when she can't get around something or she's trapped. I love it! There is nothing as cute a child trying to use their words. I wish i had a video recorder on her 24 hrs. a day.

We're back from Toronto

Gramma's funeral was both heartbreaking and lovely, but I think that she would have been pleased. So many people came and spoke about wonderful memories with her. I was lucky that My very close friend Katie watched Blue during the service so that I could give my full attention to what was going on. The neat thing about this trip was it was a chance for Blue to see her east coast cousins. In order above we have Zoe, Blue, Andrew, Hannah and Ryan.
My brother, John, brought his new game system Nintendo Wii. It was a lot of fun for the whole family because you get physically involved in the games. Here is Papa and Hannah in a boxing match. My brother is coaching us through it.

Nana against me. Oh ya! Actually Nana kicked my butt.

My sister Joanne and brother in law Marc getting full comic relief.

Nana basking in her domination over the game.

Blue, tired but well behaved (whew!) , on the way home.

Beautiful roses sent by my friend Robin in honor of my Gramma. Thanks Robin!
